Carrabba’s Italian Grill, commonly known as Carrabba’s, is an American restaurant chain featuring Italian-American cuisine. It was founded by Johnny Carrabba and his uncle Damian Mandola in 1986, with the first restaurant opening in Houston, Texas. The founders aimed to share their family’s favorite Italian recipes, combining traditional dishes from Italy with influences from the family’s Sicilian and Italian heritage. The restaurant’s success caught the attention of OSI Restaurant Partners (now Bloomin’ Brands), which acquired the chain in 1993, leading to a nationwide expansion. Despite its growth, Carrabba’s has maintained its commitment to serving fresh, hand-prepared Italian dishes, becoming a popular destination for those seeking a casual yet authentic Italian dining experience.
Carrabba’s Italian Grill isn’t entirely free of gluten, but it offers a broad selection of choices for individuals aiming to steer clear of this protein.
